((I've never really done anything like this before and am really interested in how it works out. I'd like to try a debate set in-character, so try your best to represent your views from your perspective. i.e. we're not trying to come to a conclusion based on all available knowledge of the story, rather trying to better view the perspectives of the various factions and their view on what is heppening. It may not end up working out, but I'd like to at least see how it turns out.))
((Edit: We're doing great. :) Here are our characters in case anyone gets lost:

Location
: The Violet Citidel, Dalaran
The Character I will be representing
: Nakresh, of the Kor'kron Vanguard
Race, Age
: Orc, 28, only 2 yrs old at the time of the First War.
Nakresh sat at looked over the many people that had come to the summit to discuss relations between the Horde and the Alliance. Peace now seemed just out of reach, but he had been summoned to a conference to make an attempt at reaching understanding between the two factions.
At the end of the table sat an elf of great stature, garbed in red, with an air of power about him.
"Greetings, friends, I am Krasus of the Kirin Tor. I am glad that you have all arrived safely. Let us begin our discussion. Let us begin with the Alliance, do any of you have an opening statement?"

Krasus turned his glace toward the human who had addressed him.
"An excellent question, Master Barton," Krasus began, smiling slightly as he stood, "You see, the Horde and the Alliance are on the brink of war. A war that holds no possible victor. The Lich King and the Burning Legion will only fall if the races can work together, and thus far, that seems to be impeded by mutual hatred and distrust. Here, I hope that we may resolve this. May we begin?"
((I'm basically using Krasus as a device to mediate the debate.))
Nakresh turned and looked as people whispered to eachother with uncertainty. Finally, he stood.
"I am Nakresh Ogrefist, warrior of the Horde. I wish to know why the Alliance attacked my brothers and I upon our victory in the Undercity. You dared even to attack my Warchief! Such an affront will not stand!" He finished, slamming his fist against the table.
((For ease's sake, we're going to bypass the language barrier. Let's say there's a translator than goes between Orcish and Common))

Eveko
Character :
Eveko Duskdweller
Location :
Violet Citadel
Age :
125 , Blood Elf
Easy there big guy
< a blood elf in dark leather pats the orc>
The Alliance attacked the Undercity as a misunderstanding.
Putrin killed a loved man of the king. And so he sough for vengeance.
How weak , a king that leaves for vengeance . If it wasnt for
Lady Proudmore he would be dead.
I still find this meeting rather.... pointless. But i will be listing
to the nonsense to kill time...
(i hope our own characters are welcome?)
Edit : Some typos

((Certainly, just remember, you're character only has access to your perspective, i.e. You wouldn't know what Varian might have said to Jaina, or if you're Alliance, what happened with Sylvanas in the coup. We're basically trying to act as members of our faction would if they were able to sit down at a table and talk thing over.... :P))

Nakresh turned to the Draenei.
"Good shaman, me and my war-brothers of the Horde simply wish to survive. My brothers of the Warsong clan did not know that the forest of Ashenvale belonged to anyone. We just needed the lumber. Must I remind you that the Elves attacked first?
"I follow the beliefs of my Warchief, and I work to the fullest extent of my strength to overcome the stigma caused by the actions of the Old Horde. You indeed, good Draenei, have suffered the greatest at the hands of the past generation," Nakresh said with regret, "But where our enemies still fight us, I will defend our honor."

<Eveko then said towards the old elf>
Hmm Zoft , you are speaking as if the Horde,
i just a pack of beasts. Youre Scars are nothing
compared to what the Aliance did to me and my brothers.
We were ordered around like pups.
And when Kael Left i stayed behind and protected Silvermoon.
And thanks to the aid of the Forsaken we could claim Quel'Thalas
as our own and join the Horde .
Zoft you beter think before you open youre mouth. And those
scars are just marks of youre failed missions as an Assasin.
This debate seems interesting after all....
Post by
Nyito
Character: Nyito Swiftarrow
General: High Elf, age 38.
((Hope you don't mind a non-playable race, but she's been my favored RP character since before WoW. She represents the Alliance.))
"Silvermoon, Quel'Thalas... to think they can be even called these names still, after all that has happened..." The slim, pale haired elf murmured to herself as she sat up and glared across the table at one she once would have called her brethren. "I agree with you Zoft," she spoke out loudly, slowly casting her gaze to the hooded Night Elf. "I wonder how long until these unstable elves tap into something that repeats such an atrocity as the first felling of the Sunwell. What concerns me even more, however, is as this combat rages on, as we approach Icecrown, as the battle seems all but won, how can we know there will not be a second Wrathgate? What assurance do we have we won't be stabbed in the back?"
She snapped her head back to the Blood Elf, her gaze hardening once more. "I also wonder what made you think it could possibly be okay to use DEMONS, to sate your hunger. Prince or no, betrayal or no, how could you justify such insanity!" Nyito took a quick breath and let it out slowly, as she leaned back in her chair, shaking her head slightly, before speaking out again, in a much softer tone. "But I suppose that is something for another time."

Character - Rhaja Redtusk
((Normally, Rhaja is a Death Knight, but for this scenario he is an aging troll warrior))
"Hey night elf... don' you forget who attracted da demons here in da first place. Yer people misued da Well of Eternity to da point of shatterin' da entire world. Now because of you, dere be a big swirlin' storm in da great sea!"
Rhaja sighed. "Da orcs were fooled into drinkin' da blood of Manoroth. But, I've seen how they are. Dey be honorable and proud. Thrall wants no war wit da Alliance."
Rhaja twirled one of his swords' points on the floor. "If da night elves have such an issue wit da Warsong cuttin' lumber. Teach dem da ways to harvest it without harmin' da forest. You know how ta do it." Rhaja grabbed one of his swords tightly and glared at Zoft. "An' elf... Don't be sayin' we be eatin' you. Da Darkspears gave up dat a long time ago..."
((Edit: Also, Krasus is a red dragon, not a member of the Kirin Tor. Why would he be leading this summit?))
Post by
Skreeran
((@Caradyran No problem... :P It's better if Krasus doesn't have to be used very frequently.
@Ruleofthumb Few mortals know that Korialstrasz is a dragon, and he frequently goes undercover as Krasus, a Member of the Six, the Ruling Council of the Kirin Tor.))
Nakresh stood and prepared to speak.
"Thank you brother Rhaja, well said." He began, bowing to the Troll, "Zoft, firstly, I would like to say, while I believe that the Orcs were in the right when they initially entered the Forest, I think I speak for many of the Horde when I voice my deep regret at Brother Hellscream's choice to return to the demons. He gave his life to fix his mistake, though, and though it did not return your forest spirit, he died redeemed in our eyes. We did many terrible thing while blinded by the blood haze, and we can never undo our actions, but Hellscream's actions freed us. I wish it was as simple as pulling troops out of the forest, but there is now far more to the conflict than lumber.
"I do understand your anger at the Forsaken, though, and there are few among them that I would trust. Hopefully, though, with their Dreadlord and the traitors dead, they will be more trustworthy. I have fought alongside their queen, and I genuinely think that she means best for her people, and the whole ordeal only strengthened her bond with the Horde."

Character: Asha
General: A blood elf, her extended family were killed by the orcs, and her brother died at the hands of the Alliance.
"The Sin'Dorei were simply betrayed. Is that not something you Alliance fools can understand? Probably not, seeing as you betrayed us. Night Elves, do not get me started on your beloved Queen Aszhara, or the Human's abandonment and imprisonment of my people for trying to survive. The orcs killed most of my family, and I forgive them. I suggest you do the same." Asha then paused for breath.
"The Lich King and his scourge are looming over us and all the Alliance want to do is stamp their feet and get what they want, again?"

Dralas
(( Hope you don't mind if I jump in =P ))
Character: Dralas
Location:Violet Citadel
- Dralas is a male human warrior and a elite soldier of the Alliance. He has fought many battles and has also took his time to find out the events and actions of what has happened in the past up to now, not just some mindless soldier.
"Hmph. All of you horde can't possibly think that you can have peace in this world. All of you have commited horrible acts against the Alliance, and I for one will not tolerate such things" Dralas said as he looked up.
"We've tried to make peace with you before, and what did we get in return? Nothing! Nothing but violence and empty promises. My king went to try and begin a peace with all of you, and when that happened, he was kidnapped and gone for years. And what did you do to him when you found him? You put him as a gladiator to die!" Dralas yelled as he stood up.

Nakresh, stood, angered by the human's words.
"We have been at peace with Theramore for years now, your King should follow the Lady's Proudmoore's example. The Arenas of Dire Maul had no support of the Horde. What about the Arenas that you humans held years ago, where you forced MY Warchief to fight? Did your Alliance support that?
"And if you mean to kill us all, what of our children? They have done nothing wrong, shall you throw them in Prison camps as you did me as a child?
