Compared to KD, you loose some hit, but you gain

8 defense (~60% increase)
126 armor (~70% increase)
5 stamina (~20% increase)
12.5 dps (~15% increase)
14-17 dmg (~14-15% increase) <-- this alone increases your threat quite some, since its pure dmg.

all this, for -17 hit, which is less than 1%. I don't know about you, but I don't really miss my targets that much. :-) So can't see why the minor increase to crit/hit, compared to what you get instead, can make you say this is a poor upgrade.

Playing a human warrior, I would definitely go for this if I ever took him to T6 content. The stam and dps alone are drool-worthy. However, if you don't benefit from using swords, then the Brutalizer is worth getting over this. It all just comes down to personal preference. Plus, this sword looks pretty freaking awesome. One can only dream ^.^

As a human warrior, this sword is easily better than The Brutalizer because of racials.

... and you can easily hit the 5% yellow hit cap (because the extra 4% for white hits will make a huge threat difference, amirite?) with other gear you should be seeing by the time you kill Anetheron (*cough* Akama loot *cough*).

But the biggest question is : Is it better than The Brutalizer (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=32254). Personally I'd take this over the other 1 becuase the other looks really really dumb and 2 this one has armor which does the obvious thing. Just my opinion, they are both the same level (141)

If you're an Orc, you'll want to use The Brutalizer because of your passive racial ability Axe Specialization

If you're a Human, you'll want to use The Unbreakable Will because of your passive racial ability Sword Specialization.

If you're neither human nor orc, then it's a matter of the situation in which you're tanking: Threat-senstive fights would benefit more from the additional TPS that The Brutalizer offers, while bosses who gleefully pound your face in would generally be better faced with the additional effective health that The Unbreakable Will grants.

For humans with Sword Specialization, this is basically like adding 19.5 expertise rating. (3.9 rating = 1 expertise)

So if you are human and you have both The Unbreakable Will and The Brutalizer, it is best to put Mongoose on the sword for avoidance and Executioner on the axe for threat encounters.

As a human warrior im trying to decide which to use, i currently use Mallet of the Tides, but im thinking of picking this up, I gain the racial expertise with both of these, which would be better?

in my opinion this is a straight upgrade from mallet of the tides cause of the dps increase well in my opinion u trade ur 14 expertise rating for 308 armor and 4~ dps.
as a human warrior i would take the armor over the expertise cause u still get the racial expertise bonus and
the dps differense.
very cool looking sword imo.

I have one in my DK's bank. Aiming for a 2nd one tho just in case Blizz only allows the weapon to be transmog'd once.. that way i can duel wield it.

Got it maybe 3 weeks ago now. Havnt seen it drop again.. Still no Cat's Edge... Managed to obtain both fist weapons from Hyjal Summit.. So hoping Blizz allows dk's to use fist weapons in the future at some point.

Yeah an immense tanking sword, even better than The Brutaliser.
Ive got it with executioner enchant. Personally my favourite enchant to have with tanking weapon

Great tanking sword, high amount of armor, stamina, and defense. 100.3 DPS doesn't hurt either, with 1 hand spec it would definitely help w/ agro.

This is a drop of Anetheron, the second boss in Hyjal Summit.

Wow. The people who post on thottbot are even more #$%^&*ed than those that post on the warrior forums.

Heroic strike doesn't trigger the global cooldown, devastate does (idiots).

I'm not going to bother explaining what this means, but suffice it to say, the people saying "you use devastate not heroic strike" are total and complete morons who don't know very much about game mechanics.

These are the types of tanks you meet in a pug that make you want to pull your hair out.

Tanking weapons need to be fast so that you can convert excess rage into heroic strike spam alongside the abilities you use that are on the GCD, such as shield slam, revenge, and sunder/devastate.

Noobs with attitudes. I'm amazed at the level of &*!@#$ation out there. Makes me want to move to some island somewhere that only accepts people who can pass some kind of entrance exam.

Arguably THE Best tanking Weapon in the game..

If there's a tank present that doesn't have it, priority

If all the tanks have it and some crazy hunter wants to roll on it, shoot him

If all your tanks have this wep you shouldn't even be worrying about what other classes get this as any other class that could get even a remotely small amount of use out of it (Rogue + Hunter) will either have...

Halberd of Desolation for hunters and daggers/swords/maces/murlocs of equal awesomeness for rogues due to all the damn farming you've been doing (assuming your guild has High Warlord Naj down too)

Nuff said!

Just to strait this strait up any raiding guild that is raiding hyjal should be using dkp and have master looter set if you don't its your own fault that you had this ninjaed. Assuming anyone accually is in a raiding guild that is raiding hyjal and doesnt use a dkp system I don't know how you managed to get this far, and im honestly thinking that its just trash talk.

(Have a 70 Rogue(Main)(Combar Sword Spec), Warrior, Hunter, Paladin).

I would not touch this as a rogue (lacks he agility ap and other things a rogue wants) s2 and s3 weapons are better. Honestly Even S1 is arguably better over all.

As a hunter (see above for a rogue). Honestly over all as a hunter your better off with similar weapons to rogues ideally something with agi and ap howerver. Sonic Spear, Halbred of Decolacion, Daggers from Kara, stuff with agi and ap lil sta doesnt hurt. If a hunter in my guild accually asked for this for any reason other than cause they wanted to look cool or if they tried to raid with this we would kick them out of the guild.

Paladin's do not need this for tanking paladins who tank do not use warrior tanking gear. There is a reason all the protection spec paladin gear has sta, int, and spell power on it. Take the hint This is not ment as a paladin weapon not if u plan to be a quality tank ideally as a paladin tank you should be fighting with warlocks over swords or with mages who use swords. Blood Blade of the Magus, Sword of the Leviathan (I think i spealt that/got the name right) and other high spell power weapons with a fast attack speed sta and int boosts. All of your damage and aggro comes from your spells melee is not something you should be focusing on if u wanna tank trash mobs maybe you would use this if u plan to tank anything other than that your barking up the wrong tree. If you tried to hold aggro off my rogue with this you would losse it in a matter of seconds.

Warrior's are the only people who need this as a weapon. This is THE BEST TANKING WEAPON IN THE GAME. I like the weapon for a fury warrior for the speed for main hand use but I would pass it fury speced to the mt and secondary tank first as this is where the weapon belongs. After they have it sure fury warrior is good to go let a couple get them its a good main hander for fury spec. No body else should want this accept a warrior if you do and your not a warrior I feel bad for your guild so please peoples unless your a warrior you should forget this weapon exists its not for you save your dkp for something of value the only thing it will do for you is make you look cool and weaken your toon.

Correct me if Im wrong but wouldnt any spelldmg sword/mace be better then this for a paladin tank? paladins doesnt get their threat from white dmg, they get it from their spells dmg.

The only good thing with this is the +defence but I really doubt someone would sacrefice 250 spelldmg for 21 defence rating.

I got this weapon last night. The graphics are OK and the weapon is an upgrade from King's Defender. I didn't like losing the plus hit but I also picked up Pepe's cloak off trash and gained the plus hit back with that and then some.

This looks to me to be the 2nd best tanking weapon currently in the game with the axe from Black Temple being the best.

being prot pally..i burnt some dkp on this when nobody wanted the drop.

Not for pallys.
Not for rogues.
Not for anything but a warrior

tempest is a much better weap for a prot pally, white damage is pretty much useless and the +spell dmg on tempest kicks ass.

i agree with the 1 above me...

ther is no way a pally should need this it has nothing to offer.

if you are a tankadin go find a wepon with spell damage, because simply you would waist your time gettign this.

and rouges.. you dont need defence rating...

My guild has a very good tankadin who mainhands Blade of the Archmage, so /agree to all who say that the spell power is more important than a little armor/dps.

But hell, as I rogue I would love this as an OH, but I would most certainly be happy letting it go to a prot warrior first. I would never roll on it if there was anyone who could make proper use of it.

I believe in the art of rogue tanking, but this weapon wouldn't do me much good. Even though a fast weapon generates more threat, I get more out of using a slow arena MH for insane hemo spam damage so I don't gimp my dps. Thus I mainhand slow and OH quick.

My question is, is this better then Mallet of the Tides?

It may be .10 sec slower, but it has 1 stam more (not a big deal) and 14 expertise rating which converts into 3 expertise (.75% to avoid being dodged/parried)which helps. So, should I wait to use this weapon until I'm expertise cap (or close enough) or use it now?

Then, which enchant, Mongoose or Executioner?

It's unwise to say that this is better than/worse than other weapons - a good warrior tank is going to have a variety of gear to use. This would be one of your best Max Stam/Mitigation profile weapons, but if you need to push max aggro I would think about Marra de las mareas , El Brutalizador (especially if you're an orc), Hoja de ferocidad if you're deeper into Black Temple, or even Espada cambiante de Latro (though this late, the lower weapon damage on Latro's is probably a bit prohibitive). Ideally, you'll have a few of these options along with other pieces of gear to modify your profile in response to the boss. This would absolutely be my go to Max Tanky weapon.
