This is definitely not worth the materials. Trust me.

The DPS is laughable, the top-end makes it an awful MH (though I don't know who would MH a 1.6 speed dagger...) and the proc is useless. With proper tanking and a feint or two, a rogue should never need this.

Chalk Black Amnesty up to the eBay rogue's dream and go for something better...like a Heartseeker.

Not a very good dagger unless you want to screw around with it. The materials required for this have better uses and should be put into other projects that are more valuable. Trust me, this is pretty useless.

I have a lvl 60 hunter with near rogue crit% due to high agi and crit gear. Whenever I pull agro off my pet, I disengage or if that fails FD is always an option. This dagger is clearly intended for rogues. Why would you stay there and stab a mob for 30 seconds hoping it will proc when you can either kite the mob or disengage/feign? The only melee weapons which are good for a hunter are weapons with stats beneficial to hunters. A weapon with a proc is pretty much worthless, b/c you will never see it proc.

Obviously you have never been to BWL or fought Ragnaros. Ragnaros has a "punt" ability that scrubs aggro off the main tank. We fight him with two tanks, both competing for aggro, and when one gets punted the other starts sundering to take the slack. Any rogue doing their normal (and by normal I mean gutgore+corehound+backstab frenzy) will be high up the aggro list, and the moment that punt comes they are at a very high risk of being instantly squished.

Having this dagger as your offhand instead of the corehound tooth will drop your DPS by a bit but nothing too major (same speed, smallish drop in damage, loss of 20 attack power), but in return it means you don't die everytime the MT gets punted, which would hurt your overall DPS a little bit more in the scheme of things methinks.

Then we move onto Razorgore, and that fight is a bit more traditional once the eggs are dead, but even still the reduced aggro will help a bit given the sheer amount of damage most fully geared MC rogues are capable of.

And now we come up to the REAL reason for owning this dagger - Vael. Vael has an ability that every minute or so he puts a timebomb on your MT. You need about 5 MT's, each taking over when the last one gets timebombed (burning adrenaline its called), and the "Main Tank Transition" is the hardest part of the fight. Each replacement tank basically has to get themselves to the top of the aggro list as fast as possible, so when the previous one dies Vael doesn't go postal on the rogues/mages/priests/etc. ANYTHING rogues can do to reduce their aggro will make this transition easier. Feint and Vanish are okay, but since you are trying to get a fresh new tank to the top of the aggro list fast, Feint doesnt cut it against the 300-500+ dps the rogues have been doing for the whole fight.

This dagger is almost the perfect solution. You get to keep your DPS up, without having to resort to vanishing every time it cools down. It won't win the battle for you, but it will make the hardest aspect of a hard fight that little bit easier and safer.

And its obvious to all of us that the only way somebody is going to get one of these is with the blessing of their guild (those cores are valuable - my mage loves her flarecore), or with stupidly large amounts of money for buying the cores on the AH.

To the hunters - anybody wasting that kind of money for solo PvE either has an EBay account or a lot of time on their hands. The only time any of us Solo PvE anymore is for farming (money or rep). Anybody who still needs experience obviously hasn't been to the harder parts of MC and so won't be anywhere near close to getting the required cores - but more to the point, its a level 60 only dagger.

A rogue who knows how to play will vanish and feint mulitple times in order to not get aggro, a warrior however whos not tanking cant do anything to reduce his aggro when doing dps. No rogue needs this, this is a pure fury warrior dagger, although if a rogue has 12 arcanite to waste it is their chioce.

I occurs to me this might make a very nice weapon for a balance druid. Use it when out of mana with Omen of Clarity on, keeps the aggro down, and helps get off a few free heals.
ummm... wtf? a) being out of mana IN AND OF ITSELF will keep your threat down, if you're oom you don't need to worry about getting a threat-reducing proc because i can guarantee that a balance druid's melee hits aren't gonna pull aggro. b) you've got the same AC bonus as dire bear form in moonkin, if you end up with something on you in a 5-man strat or w/e it's no big deal, certainly not worth such an expensive weapon to not get hit a couple times... and in any real boss fight in MC/ony/BWL, you'd be PURELY ranged damage and standing back with the mages so they could get your crit aura. c) if you're needing to avoid aggro b/c you lack the armor bonus b/c don't have moonkin form or something, you're not really balance anyway/can't buff group with the aura so you'd get relegated to healing on raids anyhow. this is NOT a druid weapon. the only time i can imagine a druid having any need for a melee proc to reduce threat is in cat form and procs don't work in feral forms anyway... not to mention the HUGE dps loss from the lack of stats/lack of any feral OH items in the game to put with it. *grumbles something about rogues getting a better feint but druids not getting a better cower... believe it or not, a well geared feral spec druid in cat form has to be about as careful as a rogue when it comes to pulling aggro on boss fights in BWL and such (more so really since we can't vanish).* really, anyone who has the slightest clue how to raid should be able to control their aggro well enough to not need a 1k+g dagger to stop from getting killed. and even if you can't control your aggro, think how many repair bills it would take to add up to the mats cost before you were actually saving money : P.

I'm not guarenteeing this, as I dont have one, but someone told me that its 2 ppm. Thus if you feint spam at 600 threat reduction per 10 seconds (with rank 4), thats 1800 every 30 or 2400 every 30 with rank 5 feint. If Black Amnesty gives you 540 every 30 seconds, that means its a 30% increase to agro reduction for rank 4 or a 22.5% increase for rank 5. Seeing as how feint is only 20 energy every 10 seconds, using this to decrease the number of feints you need is not nessicarily helpful.

As for the person who said dual weidling these is great for pve, I highly disagree. The fact that you can put it in your off hand is what makes it useful. Expecially if you dont have dual weilding talent, your off hand only provides around 20% of your total dps. Your main hand provides the other 80% (give or take of course). Having the best main hand you can find and something unusual like this in your off hand isnt a bad idea but dual weilding them is not.

I wonder what enchant you should put on this, because it coh feint's and then when you put lifestealing on it, it gives you the aggro the feint just took away ^^

Treffmon has an excellent point, but in the high end boos fights i doubt the "Chance on Hit" agro reduction will make up for the huge amount of DPS the Rogue has already put out. This is just a nice addition to it. Nothing more.

I'd make this blue if it were up to me. : /

Ok here is my first pharse of the Black Amnesty proc rate in the Off Hand.

Out of approximately 632 swings I got 27 procs making the estimated proc rate per swing 4.27% for the off hand, and the PPM rate approx 1.60%

I did use SnD several times during this data set which could have possibly effected the proc rates. In the future I will be pharsing a lot more and I will make it a point to not use SnD and get a much larger data pool.

Edit: P.S. the threat reduction is -540 which is 90% of the threat reduction of a feint. In otherwords if you did 541 damage the proc would bring your threat level back down to as if you had only done 1 damage.

got mine this week. Tried it out on Ony with 25 folks, went all out using feint and vanish when up. I was impressed, a plus on aggro intensive mobs for sure.

How many rogues are actually blacksmiths? And when will there be a crafted main-hand dagger? This is like the purple version of heartseeker, and you couldn't even sell it if it was good.

Does the proc on this weapon reset your feint timer? If this procs, can you feint immediately afterward?

I just got this dagger as of last night on Burning Legion. First dagger on horde side to be made, care of prototype. I will test the dagger out tuesday and let you know. Currently I am close to #1 or top 5 dps on the raid and i die more than i'd like to lately... So i'll let you know how it holds up.

Sorry, the Rogue using this Dagger is just so original... Melee...

But yeah, if I could afford this dagger, I'd consider getting it PURELY for the free random Feint. I STILL haven't gotten my Feint Book yet,a nd I am tired of taking Aggro over our MT. :-/

A threat reducing proc is terrible, all classes can control their aggro who can use it, low dps + no stats ftl.
