Mists of Pandaria: Jade Forest Quest Preview

El Bosque de Jade
has undergone an extensive revision since we first previewed it, to better demonstrate the Alliance and Horde conflict. This zone is the first zone players will reach upon questing in Pandaria. Unlike past expansions, there are not two options for starting zones.
Players will acquaint themselves with Pandaren culture, as well as the Jinyu and Hozen. The Alliance will trace Anduin Wrynn's disappearance, and both sides will have a tragic clash by the
Templo del Dragón de Jade
, a new 5-player dungeon. Players will also have to return to The Jade Forest at 90 to train with
Orden del Dragón Nimbo
in order to ride Cloud Serpent mounts.
Of note: some of the early quests reward items that resemble Tier 9 raid gear, like
Jade Forest Quest Chains
Since we first previewed the zone, some changes have been made. Here's some screenshots from the new areas.

Sha of Doubt
Video PreviewWe ran through the Temple of the Jade Serpent today--it's a pretty quick instance but each wing is richly detailed. You can also buy all glyphs for from a vendor right inside the instance. All bosses dropped ilvl 425 loot, but they were reskins of 4.3 gear and didn't have real names yet, like
Coselete de desesperación
The instanced version of the Temple of the Jade Serpent looks practically identical to the outdoor quest version--except it's been corrupted by the Sha. The library and water wings are accessible, as is the central area where questgivers and monks trained formerly. After questing through The Jade Forest, it's intriguing to find out how the temple ended up in such a state.
Corrupted Living Water elementals scatter the hallway by the Fountain of the Overseeing, along with dead Jinyu. When they die, they leave a harmful pool with

We were lucky enough to preview the start of the Jade Forest questline in beta before the zone was later closed! Here's a peek at the cutscene for the Alliance--as covered in our Press Event coverage, it's quite different than the cutscene for the Horde with a very angry Garrosh.
We've also got screenshots of the initial Alliance and Horde questing hubs in The Jade Forest, as well as some of the Temple of the Jade Serpent!
Be sure to check out our recent Mists of Pandaria beta coverage--this weekend alone we updated our talent calculator to have talents and abilities for ALL classes, including monks, as well as footage of redone Scholomance, Scarlet Monastery, and Ragefire Chasm.

Mists of Pandaria Interviews and News Round Up

Blue posters were hard at work yesterday, covering a variety of topics: LFR's new loot system, item squish, female pandaren, DotA-style battlegrounds, new models, and as a bonus--a creative blog covering Mists' content features. Here's what's new since yesterday's coverage:
Female Pandaren: There will be many more options for her hairstyle, face, and features. There will also be options to have a long tail, or a more traditional pandaren stub tail.
Archaeology: Can teleport to dig sites after finding an artifact, and can dig more times at a single digsite.
Inscription: Players can level by making staves and wands now.
Factions: Craftsman tokens from new faction currencies allow you to buy items like fun toys or pets.
Elder Tokens: Allow players to purchase new items, convert to Valor, or buy Charms of Good Fortune--allowing players to buy another go at a boss' loot table
Proving Grounds: A solo instance that allows players to try out their new rotations while getting achievements.

We had a chance to sit down with Cory Stockton and Tom Chilton for exclusive interviews about Mists of Pandaria. Lore from Tankspot got to sit down with Greg Street (Ghostcrawler) and J Allen Brack. Their answers are great and we've transcribed all of them down below.
However, in case you just aren't that into reading, we've also uploaded videos of all four interviews as well!
Make sure you also read our huge guide and the Mists of Pandaria official FAQ for even more information!

Mists of Pandaria 2012 Press Event Official FAQ

Our massive Mists of Pandaria blog post and our exclusive interviews with Blizzard have a lot more information, but this is the official FAQ that Blizzard gave all the press. This way you can browse through and see what Mists of Pandaria is all about--in their own words.
World of Warcraft®: Mists of Pandaria™
March 2012 Media Event FAQ
Q: What is World of Warcraft®: Mists of Pandaria™?
Escalating tensions between the Alliance and Horde have broken out into open warfare. The roar of cannons blacken the sky while naval engagements around the globe fill the seas with blood. As the clash of mortal armies spins the world into chaos, a continent -- once shielded by impenetrable mists -- suddenly manifests itself in the southern oceans. There’s no question that this resource-rich new land will be at the center of a global conflict. Will the Mists of Pandaria part to reveal Azeroth’s salvation? Or will this new battlefield become the flashpoint that pushes the Alliance and Horde over the brink into
Cataclysm Post Mortem -- Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street
07/03/2012 a las 11:16
As part of our World of Warcraft: Cataclysm post mortem series, we sat down with World of Warcraft Lead Systems Designer Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street to talk about his thoughts on World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.
Q. What were your main goals going into Cataclysm?
A: Westfall was a seven-year-old zone with seven-year-old trees and seven-year-old quests. It naturally felt old. It felt tired for players going back to level up an alt, and it wasn’t inspiring for new players coming to the game. We just felt like it was time to give all of those old 1-60 zones some attention again. Beyond that though, we wanted to update the classes at low level as well. The spell flow, by which we mean the level you get certain spells, just hadn’t aged well. You would get some very group-focused buffs at low level and some powerful leveling tools at high level, which would have made more sense reversed. There were some specs that just weren’t functional at low level before because they lacke
Cataclysm Post Mortem -- Dungeons and Raids with Scott “Daelo” Mercer
05/03/2012 a las 21:25
Soon we fly together again...
We received the following pics from Blizzard this morning, with this cryptic message: "Soon we fly together again..."
Any idea what it could mean? We're curious to know more about these mounts!
Cataclysm Post Mortem: Dungeons and Raids
As a part of our post mortem series on Cataclysm, we sat down with World of Warcraft Lead Encounter Designer Scott “Daelo” Mercer to hear his thoughts on Cataclysm dungeons and raids.
Q. What were your main goals going into Cataclysm?
We really wanted to make sure we were creating new challenges, strong mechanics, and cool creatures while staying true to the expansion and the themes we wanted to carry out. The three raid dungeons came out well and we had a lot of fun bringing the story of Nefarian and the Twilight’s Hammer to life. We were also able to add some dynamic mechanics in Throne of the Four Winds, which featured players moving across multiple platforms.
New Ghostcrawler Blog: Mists of Pandaria Stat Changes
01/03/2012 a las 20:06
Our recent talent calculator changes led to some players asking questions about how character and item stats were changing, because some spell and talent tooltips suggest that changes are coming. We compiled this list to attempt to explain more of what’s coming in Mists of Pandaria. First of all, please note that we actually aren’t making many stat changes compared to the ones we made in Cataclysm (“armor penetration -- gone!”). Second, the stuff below can get a little technical. If you’re not into the subtle nuance of gear itemization, then don’t worry about it -- you don’t need to be to enjoy the expansion -- but we know there are plenty of you who enjoy some nuts and bolts talk, so here we go.
Spell resistance is gone. There are no buffs that improve it and there shouldn’t be much, if any, spell resist gear left. We always thought the system was hard to understand and we weren’t getting much gameplay out of it. Now taking a step back, we can imagine how to develop a game where you’d want various forms of resist gear for certain situations and opponents. Resist gear could potentially be interesting, b
News Round Up: Dragon Soul Nerfs Continue and so do MoP Talent Explanations
22/02/2012 a las 14:29
Dragon Soul is receiving what will be the second of its zone wide nerfs, decreasing the damage dealt and health of its enemies by 10% from 5%.
There has been some retaliation from players, but it's always good to remember that the last thing Blizzard wants is another situation like the original Naxxaramas--it is their company goal now to have the majority of its playerbase experience the encounters and this is their method of doing it. Besides, it's not like it's a surprise now, is it?
In other news, we have our recent giveaway winners to announce. We have a bunch because I went on a giveaway spree last week. I'm sorry, I won't do it again!
However, our friends at WoWInterface are holding a raffle this week--check it out if you like
