Shadowlands Cinematic - Ysera's Fate - Not Playing for Characters In-Game
24/11/2020 a las 19:10
The Shadowlands cinematic featuring Ysera is not playing for characters in-game. If you missed this while questing, check out the cinematic in our post, which should play at the end of the Ardenweald story.
Ardenweald ZoneStory and Quests of ArdenwealdStory of Ysera
Throughout the Ardenweald storyline, we try to protect the pod of Ysera, one of the last fallen souls to be judged by the Arbiter and sent to Ardenweald before the machine of death was broken. The Winter Queen, as seen in
, has been forced to make difficult decisions due to the anima drought, and originally is hesitant to revive Ysera until persuaded by Lady Moonberry.
Ysera is once again awakened, except now her soul is bound to the Shadowlands and her eyes reflect an ethereal blue color. Her reawakening parallels her ascension at the end of the Val'sharah cinematic when her silhouette ascends into the sky.
Ysera says: I awaken once again... but in a world not my own....
Winter Queen says: You are reborn in Ardenweald, Child of Dreams. To this realm are you bound, and you will share its fate.
Winter Queen says: The Heart of the Forest is vital to Ardenweald... and to the protection of the realms beyond.
Winter Queen says: Long ago, we drew upon its magic to ensure the Maw would be inescapable. That the Banished One would remain forever bound.
Winter Queen says: The drought has caused the Heart to wither. Its strength must be bolstered... though we have precious little anima to save our waning groves.
Winter Queen says: An impossible choice. Yet, one that must be made for the good of the cycle.
Winter Queen's Sister - Elune?
During the cinematic, the Winter Queen has a few curious wording choices, referring to the pod as her "sister's" and calling Ysera "her pet." There's also a
datamined voiceover line
where the Winter Queen states "Do you have a sister, mortal? You are certainly as vexing as mine."
Elune saved Ysera's spirit at the end of the Val'sharah questline, turning her body into a constellation in the sky, which could lead the Winter Queen to refer to Ysera as Elune's pet. As for the Winter Queen and Elune being sisters, it is not surprising as there are so many parallels between Ardenweald and the Emerald Dream. We don't know where Elune fits into the Warcraft cosmology chart as she's conspicuously absent, but we know that Tyrande wields the volatile Night Warrior powers granted by Elune, and has come to Ardenweald to find more answers, further strengthening the link between realms. Ardenweald also features a central tree besieged in
, providing an additional parallel to the World Tree of Teldrassil under Elune's protection.
Another possible interpretation is that the Winter Queen and Eonar are related, as the titan Eonar blessed Ysera with the power of Nature in the creation of the Dragon Aspects. The link between the
Titans and First Ones
has been teased for quite some time, and we can see the influence of the Titans in Shadowlands, such as the architecture of Oribos.
Either way, the Winter Queen is quite a calm character, so it will be interesting to learn in the future why she has a strained relationship with her sister, and what such a link between the Pantheon of Death and Elune on Azeroth could mean!
