I'm a patron, so that will probably invalidate anything I say to people who just want to QQ but...It doesn't matter if you don't mind the SNAFU or if you take it as a personal affront. Either way, reCAPTCHA is one of the best CAPTCHA systems out there right now, and the problem started with an error on their end, and they are fixing it. Before you whine and moan about being inconvenienced by getting a non-Roman alphabet word, stop and realize it could be worse.
Non-english words are not the real problem. We can withot any problem type most of the things in italian or dutch. The problem is when the words are written in non-roman characters, as in hebraic or cyrillic.
I once got "HIV-infected" as one of my words.....that freaked me out a bit
Oooh, i'm a snowflake cuz i saw that pic before the rest of you. xD
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
You only need to type in one word for the captcha to work. For example: The captcha posted in the picture could be passed by typing "Wowhead expela".Sometimes its hard to tell which word it is but one word in the captcha does not need to be correct. In the example above its obvious, or when you get math problems (happened to me once lol). So when you get a captcha written in another language or math problems all you need to do is substitute the strange word with whatever word you want and type the next word correctly.edit: spelled Wowhead wrong
But we all speak fluent Tamil, no?
when I come across words I cant make out or from a different language, typing in dont know seems to work for me XD
anyone seen chinese yet? i have.
Speaking as a professional web developer, it is very much an inconvenience to users to have to use a CAPTCHA after logging in; in fact, that's one of the web design no-nos that are regularly violated, so I don't know why the captcha just isn't on the login page and that's it, instead of appearing every so often on posts. You should only have to enter it ONCE, and then never again whilst logged in.Second, the CAPTCHA doesn't even require the actual words to be typed. I've had several times where there were gibberish or foreign languages and I literally typed a bunch of random characters, and most of the second word (sometimes misspelled or missing some punctuation) and the CAPTCHA happily accepted it.
Have you considered Ironclad CAPTCHA it;'s based on counting shapes and people find it easier for humans to enter. Interesting autobots have a very hard time to use it, It's free and I use it on my Blog I have no affiliation with Ironclad.Agebur
''to prove you're human'' omg come on!
I am not hearing impared, but so many times I have a such a difficult time trying to figure out what the captcha words are that I try the sound captcha.I genuinely feel sorry for people that have to deal with it. It sounds like a record played backwards!I understand the purpose of captcha, but they really need to come up with something better.
A bit late there. There has been at least one suggested alternative since this topic was created...last September. Anywho, there are far worse alternatives that reCAPTCHA, like Google's or Yahoo's.
Just because it's in a another language doesn't mean you cant write the letters down.unless it's in symbols and then yeah them ones suck.erm how is "gsdarymo" a word?
