50 winners per region is a little lower than the amount of realms in some cases, so technically a nerf in that regard (maybe it should scale with amount of realms?). However, it should still be more forgiving than the last few expansions where CRZ was a thing and really screwed with the contest. This approach should also help to balance out some realm inequalities. Considering when some people have "won" based on this thread, farming all the Tastyfish needed is relatively forgiving. Having some consolation prizes is nice too.Probably going to get around to doing this for the ring heirloom, but it would be nice to see other fishing contests since "winning" this particular contest 5 times just to get everything, with the contests happening once per week, is rather daunting. Doesn't even need to award an achievement, but it would help to reduce the amount of repeat winners since even Salty players like myself might end up having to farm this event if they want the other prizes.
Stuff like this should be account wide. All rewards not being consumed or BoP. They should be reusable (line) and BoA (trinket, boots, pole). This way people can do it three 1-3 times and that is it. After that you are just trolling the people who are only there to win it once. I have been there almost every week and I could never win the ring. That is the only BoA gear I am missing. The PVP was easier to get and I do not even PVP were I am in the best PVP gear.
Woot! I am looking forward to this! Never managed to get the ring :(
The first 50? Thats great! ... In ALL OF NORTH AMERICA? Fffffffffffffffffudge, WHY. You have to compete with every single other server? Can't it just be, like, the first 5 on each server? Or literally anyone who turns it in within 5 minutes of the first person to complete it?
Yay, now I can go back and get more goodies! :D
While it is an improvement that there are now 50 winners, rather than just one - I still think it is too few. Mostly because people want to win the event multiple times since you can only pick one reward.Take myself for example, i've won both the stranglethorn and northrend tournament. I got my fishing pole and the ring, but still want the other rewards.Which leads to me being in the way of others who haven't won it at all. Also, I have somehow lost my dread pirate ring in the nether with GM's unable to retrieve it for me. This was back in wrath sometime, so hardly surprising - still pains me though.
I have been waiting for so long for this event to return, I love the updated items seems cool. My concern as anyone who knows that pvp servers since cross-realming has made it near impossible to do anything so will be interesting to see any Alliance try this at all.
BUFF UP THOSE PRIZES!--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Did not go live today 1/18, 2 pm pst and nothing
Perculia, can u send to Blizzard this info?Ingame tickets doesn't help.Current event bugs:
It started 14:00 Server time. I started to prepare at around 12, setting heartstone in Booty Bay, practicing my angling and mounting. I managed to reach 8. place after about 12 minutes. People still managed to get achivement WAY after 15:30:00 server time. From what it seems, alot more than the 50' first get it.
Any GOOD tips on how to win this?Got my hearthstone set to the inn close to the quest giver and started like 14:01.When people contested pools i left them and searched a new one.Went up and down the stream, stopping at a pool.I'm a troll druid so insta flightform, keybound the fishing and only had like 2 pools on which i had to recast.never missed a click, but the contest was over when i only had 22 fish. 17 minutes into the contest 0.0Just want the heirloom ring, how am i supposed to beat that ridiculous timer when every pool is contested?
I totally agree with the quote below, and have to add the following observations.1) Speckled Tastyfish are now temporary currency, not items. They no longer go into your bags. It seems, however, that when the contest ends you are instantly awarded the value of any fish not turned in.2) When the quest ends all active pools in Stranglethorn stop dropping any loot at all. So unlike the past where people could continue fishing for money or the possibility of the rare fish for a couple hours, now once the contest ends it's done... contest over... if you weren't lucky enough to be one of 50 regional winners or get a rare fish in the ludicrously short event period, too bad. :(
ALL RIGHT BOYS im giving my Fishing secrets away . you need to Rock your" artifact poll " "nat's Drinking hat" and "Worm supreme", lastly Make your hearthstone to Booty bay! , the fishing spot you want to Rock is between Grom'gol and Fort Livingston , Do not go inland stay on the Coast. I personally have as of now Won 6 times in a row with this set up! also you need to have 40 IN YOUR BAGS before the 50'th person in your Region turns in , but be Quick turn in asap even after the 50th has turned in because you can still get your Prize. GL and don't run away from populated pools
you need to Boost your FIshing to Improve your Catch Rate , i posted at the bottum my Guide and i now have all the Event Items . IMO if you are going for all event items i would get the boots First!, but if you dont care then just get your Hairloom first
Is it everyday at 2? I thought it used to just be once a week or something, right?
