wonder if Nya´lotha would rise and infuse, all 3 ilands in to one massive island later on, you they are quite close buy, and if N´zoth mange to raise the city and its lands, broken shore, zandalar, and kul tiras, could become one massive new land mass in middle of kalimdor and eastern kingdoms. this could be realy intresting.
You do know that the black empire was when all of azeroth was ruled by the old gods and elemental lords and that nyalotha was nzoth city/prison right?
wow, so much lore knowledge, great article.
Don't even want to imagine what the Blizz writers would do if they didn't have Tolkien and Lovecraft to rip off.
Can I just throw this in, by way of speculation...?What if Sargeras plunging his Sword into Silithus wasn't by way of mortally wounding Azeroth, but an unrevealed insight into why he was interested in Azeroth in the first place...?Maybe Arcane Magic was known to the Pantheon as a tool of the Void & something they were fighting to eradicate...?What if, all the time we've been on Azeroth, we're being led up the garden path into 'believing that Azeroth was good', when - in all actuality - our 'planet' was actually a vessel with an OLD GOD at its' heart, rather than a Titan Soul? Not all plans for conquer are to replace a ruler/regime... what if they are truly to annihilate, and that (what we have always known as) Azeroth was always doomed, in spite of all our efforts?True; we have defeated (not necessarily killed) - the increasingly more powerful, with the passage of time - C'thun, Yogg-Saron & the influence of the Heart of Y'shaarj... but what if N'zoth is that one step we are shown we need to take that will be our ultimate demise...?
We might get more lore in the near future. After all, there is an achievement that requires opening the puzzlebox of yogg'saron during the Mythrax encounter.
Love those readings, extremely well thought. I'm just curious of what will come after Uldir.
How friggin' cool would it be if Battle for Azeroth is a lead-in to World of Warcraft: Empire ?
It's quite rare that I read news posts/blog posts in general (not just this site, everywhere), but I really appreciate these character analyses and lore-related posts as of late. They are interesting and very well done.
There is more than meets the eye. There was a bargain in between Sargeras and Azshara, intentionally or not it was cut short.Pretty much the study of the Well of Eternity is a big scientific project, discovery and RnD of using it as a wormhole. You cannot make a new bargain not unless the deal and contract ended as a success, premature or have been abruptly cut off. There is this someone watching over her and her empire and this entity or god schemes and would definitely strike a new contract anytime he finds the opening.I can envision a Azshara did nothing wrong epilogue brewing up ahead.
this was super well written and very interesting! i had to watch the cinematic again afterwards. :)
