Okay so I thought this was common knowledge but I'm seeing too many comments about the new goblin and worgen faces being too similar so this needs to be said."Ever since WoD Blizzard has stopped relying solely on textures to differentiate between faces, they now use bones too."Seriously go to the dressing room and look through all the orc male face options. They all look pretty similar right? Now go on WoW and go into the character creator and look through those same face options in game. If you don't see a difference then consult an ophthalmologist.
I've noticed the redesigns take a lot of character from the faces and make them all rather smooth and samey. Anyone else see this?
The DK faces used to look better on the older models
People are complaining about sameface, but I don't think they realize that ingame, the new models (as in post-WoD) all have different bones for the faces that for whatever reason the wowhead dressing room doesn't use. Just compare night elf female faces 8 and 9 ingame versus the wowhead dressing room - in game there's a stark difference in the eyebrow placement, but in the dressing room only the face texture is changed. I'm looking forward to the PTR going online so I can see the new faces as they're intended to look ingame.
The female faces literally all look the same. Christ, Blizz can't even do character model reworks right anymore.
New lips on male look really odd.
Female look nice. Male looks like a little bit off imo... maybe the eyes or the chin. All the faces are almost the same? Female faces need slighty differences too. But overall I like them.
Not trying to trash the artists here... but I really can't see much difference, there's TINY amounts around the eyes but otherwise I fail to see the improvement. Is it mainly internal "bone" work? Considering how often I use helms and hats I can't see myself making a Gobbo but hopefully they get a cool transmog. Also like others have said why do all the new faces basically look like clones? The more I look at them the originals have a lot of character, some pretty some ugly but a lot of variety. Aside from better shades of green the new gobos appear to suffer from same-face syndrome.
Old models had fixed facial expressions since they didn't have the rigging for that stuff.New models make use of facial expressions which further differentiates them from one-another."Too cartoony" = a lazy criticism when WoW's one of those games that literally ages so well thanks to its cartoony art style.
Zero character in these new faces. I personally prefer the old ones.
I hope the goblin females do not all have the same lips like in these previews when it goes live.... there was so much variation in the old models that needs to be kept and updated.
In these comparison images, all the Goblin female faces are using skin color 1, which appears to be bugged or unfinished. Right now, using skin color 1 for Goblin females in the Wowhead Dressing Room strips most faces of much of their detail, including lipstick, skin blemishes, and even eye color -- but it does include eyebrows unlike the other skin colors. Unfortunately, the use of the bugged/unfinished skin color 1 makes these comparisons quite inaccurate. Here's a comparison that shows how skin color 1 isn't working correctly: face 6 + skin color 1 (used in comparison shots, includes eyebrows, bugged) / face 6 + skin color 2 (mostly finished but no eyebrows yet). Notice how skin color 2 correctly includes detailing around the eyes, lip coloring, and skin markings on the forehead while skin color 1 (which is used in the comparison images) omits it but includes eyebrows.
Lame, they basically removed my female goblin's face.Sad times.Maybe now that all of the races are done however, they'll continue to expand and improve on each one. Don't want to swap to old models just for one character that looks nothing like I made her.
I loved my female goblins look. This will be very hard to get used to, if at all. I don't understand why female characters in these games are not allowed to have any character in their faces or show any age. Sometimes I think people just want differently colored elves for all race's women. It's a shame.
The face tweaks aren't in yet. Once they are, these Goblins will look phenomenal.
