Or get the useful things from gnomish, i.e. chicken and deathray, then swab goblin?
As the other guy said. You don't need gnomish engi to keep using gnomish gadgets. You can freely swap to the other (Without needing to re-train engineering from scratch!) and then just make and use goblin consumables.
What Shamcloth said.. It's easy to switch between the two, so just go Gnomish first, then switch to Goblin after.
I believe you have to unlearn and relearn Engineering to go from Goblin > Gnomish or Gnomish > Goblin. It's not an easy swap/relearn like BfA. This is from the guide here on WoWhead:https://classic.wowhead.com/guides/engineering-profession-classic-wowOnce players have reached an Engineering skill of 200 and a character level of 30, they can choose to specialize in either Gnomish Engineering or Goblin Engineering. Keep in mind that choosing a specialization is optional, although this choice cannot be changed later without abandoning Engineering altogether.
Yeah, you need to relevel engineering if you wanna swap, as the book that lets you swap Soothsaying for Dummies, wont be available until Phase 5. At least I haven't found it, and I know that came out in the AQ patch.
If you are a gnome and you pick goblin....delete yourself you traitor.
Has anyone actually run numbers on the Battle Chicken? 5% Haste in Classic = 5% auto-attack speed and that's it. And with a "small chance to proc", there's a chance it won't proc at all. The chicken also has to actually survive thru boss AoEs (which in Classic hit everything, not just players only) in order to cast it. The uptime on the buff is great, but the CD on the trinket is so long that it can be used once per boss (or not at all if you wipe since cds do not reset). You're also sacrificing everything to get it, since there's no stats on it and the chicken itself does no damage, and while that might not be too big of a deal in phase 1, I'm unsure how that will hold up after. If this trinket really is the real deal I'll gladly eat my words, but it feels really overhyped.
You can switch specialization for free at Tanaris shore, so scraft gnomish things, then swap to goblin spec without lelearn. Also if you disband your engineering and train and leveling again from zero, you'll keep gnomish engineering if you seelcted gnomish engi. You can swap with the book only.
The book itself was in vanilla ( Book "Soothsaying for Dummies" ).
Engineering is fun and silly too. But be warned if you are picking this up for "for sure damage," then pick another profession. I've been both, and both of the "bewares" are more "on you" than on the target. While all around get a great giggle off all your devices back-firing on you, it is a royal pain to gather all those bloody parts to create something that messes you up more than your target(s). Additionally, you will need massive bag space to save up all those parts.Truth-be-known yes my new toon is an engineer *toothless grin*.
Can confirm it works in WoW Classic! Here is what i did:1. I went Engineering till 240 including Gnomish-Enginerring to build the Items i want.2. Unlearned Engineering altogether (Press C then Skills then the Profession u want to unlearn then the red thing)3. Reskill your Profession too 200 (not sure about that, i did 225 just in case)4. Optional: Delete your member-pass (again not sure, i just forgot about it and deleted it when i was 225)5. Go to Steamwheedle, Tanaris (rouhgly 65,18) (https://classic.wowhead.com/?npc=11811))6. Click on the book that is on the table. Now you can change your Specialization! Image: (sorry it's in german) imgur.com/a/F3Voynr
No i am not sure. Try it and let us know :D
I think it is mandatory, as it does a check whether you have "gnomish engineering" or "goblin engineering", which you can only lose by unlearning engineering altogether
So friends I didn't know of the Gnomish/Goblin spec as I'm kind of new. I played Vanilla but never played engineering.I accidently went for Gnomish in Booty and I wanted to switch. As I read on some guides before I completely unlearned Engineering and started it again. Now I'm lvl 220 engineer and I can't find where I should go to accept Goblin Engineering. The goblins in ogrimmar didn't say a thing, went to this gnome in Tanaris and the book didnt help me either. Any ideas? Many thanks in advance. This has cost me a lot of effort and I can't seem to figure it out.Edit: I reached engineering 225 and still the book won't do anything. I'm stuck as in no NPC seems to give me any lead on how I can go on after 225.
