The people in charge of WoW need to move on and ruin another product
Got into an argument with someone in game about this, he honestly thought N'zoth shouldn't have died. Like people, it's a video game, with a lore full of bad guys who will eventually die to the players. Just because you think it's not good writing that N'zoth died, doesn't mean it isn't, it just means you fail to grasp at the concept that this is a video game. I mean they set up this entire expansion and it all connects and everything we've been doing has led to our confrontation with N'zoth and our defeat of him. Someone even made the claim that we should been under his control, and he shoulda gotten away and fought and have his own expansion. He's been active behind the scenes of major events since legion (Cataclysm as well, although it wasn't just N'zoth that corrupted Deathwing), BFA WAS his expansion, how many times did you want us to beat him? Nyalotha was his only place he could have possibly "escaped to" and we fought him there. We've been gathering up power in our Heart of Azeroth, which contains some of the essence of what the Titan pantheon consider to be the strongest titan soul in existence, and have been increasing it's power for this whole expansion using the blood of said titan. Then this patch we worked to combine the power of the titan forges of Azeroth that N'zoth was actively trying to use to wipe us all out, we put a stop to that and used that power to destroy him using the Heart of Azeroth as a conduit. If we had lost or he succeeded in controlling us there'd be no future for us, he'd have won and succeeded in bringing Nyalotha into existence on Azeroth and we'd be his servants, and all others would be dead. There are people playing this game who somehow think it makes sense that'd we should lose and he should have his own expansion where he succeeded or something. We've beaten every other old god, we've beaten arthas, we've beaten kil'jaedan, we've beaten illidan, we've beaten archimonde, we've beaten gul'dan and there are people thinking that he should have lived or something, when next expansion has already been announced and has nothing to do with old gods at all. Every single thing that was done this expansion lead to this, it is pretty easy to understand. Yet everyone says they wanted more from N'zoth, and that he died too easy, we had to reroute the power of 4 titan forges to the heart chamber to use the heart of azeroth as a conduit, we fought him, we didn't just walk up and press a button to use the heart of azeroth to oneshot him, we fought him as a raid. All while slowly losing our sanity and then when he's been nearly beaten we start teetering and almost fall into madness only for the power of the titan soul of our planet to snap us out of it long enough to use the forge of origination's power to deal the final blow. Sure, using a giant beam to defeat him looks cringe, but it's certainly better than how the other old gods died and it makes sense with everything that we've done this expansion.I've asked people what they thought should have happened with N'zoth, and none of them can give an answer that would make any sense. They keep pointing to how lore says old gods are super powerful terrifying beings, but N'zoth was the weakest of them all, and we still put in way more effort dealing with him than Yogg or C'thun combined.
