Maybe the reason Worgen or Kultiran aren't there is because they are going to be integrated with the "human" race, after all, all three are just humans.
A lot of people in the comments seem to like the new UI, but honestly, I feel it's very, very bad. Most importantly, it has zero identity. If I cropped a screenshot of the current UI, even if I changed the names of the options to try to confuse you, you would immediately recognize it as World of Warcraft's menus. The new UI however looks like it's from a generic Chinese mobile game, especially MOBA knock-offs, and doesn't fit WoW's aesthetics at all.The only advantage this has over the current character creation UI is changing options without having to click a button first, but at the expense of an extremely streamlined style devoid of identity and no appearance previews. So now, rather than going straight to the face, color, etc. that looks good in the preview, you have to cycle blindly through the sliders until you see something you like.People have been complaining about WoW losing its identity over the years for many different reasons, usually gameplay changes, new races introduced and other stuff. I don't want to say if they are right or not, but this new UI should be an obvious red flag that, added to the pile of things that people have labeled as "it's not that bad", "it's not that important" over the years... had led to the worst aspects of WoW in these last few expansions.
Overall it is nice, but why did they remove the previews this will make character creation take so much longer and finding your specific customization option be so much harder.
This could maybe facilitate Blizzard adding more sliders for height and such. Going to be interesting to see where this leads.
"Presumably this is just a bug"Would laugh if Blizz confirms they're straight up deleting those races and forcibly race changing KT and Worgen characters to Gnomes.Seriously though, really looking forward to the new character creation. Also wonder if they're going to update the barbershop along with this.
It looks fantastic! I REALLY like the minimalist and modern look, but I really wish they could shy away from the cartoony aspect of the racial pics. I liked how they were the OG drawings from the books, and they were actual art rather than in-game models. Also, people say there's more space for allied races...but I hope we get some actual new races soon, allied races feel like such a cop-out by just giving us reskinned skeletons of races rather than new models with new skeletons and animations.
I'm saddened by this change (as well as the AH). I miss the iconic blizzard art style. This looks cold and empty when it should look warm and inviting; exciting the player to get into the game and begin their journey by offering a glimpse of the signature style and welcoming materials found in azeroth: wood, stone, rope, feathers, parchment, tapestry, etc. The flags/banners were appropriate and generate a feeling of getting in there with your character on your team's side. There is something special about tying menus, icons, buttons, sliders, frames and borders, etc, in with the style of the game art and connecting the player with the world and story of the game. This sleek, minimalistic appearance does not hold those soft, warm, exciting experience that I feel new and returning and even older players should get to experience and be immersed by. These new symbols and shadows really clash hard with the nice backgrounds and character models, I mean, yellow neon highlight icons? I suggest wood or stone carvings, like shop signs in a fantasy realm. The sliders can even have feathered arrows or something that at least ties in with azeroth. Sad. And they're not really even sliders, they are what we have now, just without the nice little preview, so this is a step backwards. People claim to like this 'new' style then after a while agree, it was only that it was 'new' looking that got them excited at first but after giving it some thought, it's true that it's probably a step in the wrong direction because it clashes and doesn't immerse the player, it kind of jars them out of it. Missed opportunity to display iconic and memorable blizzard art in the form of buttons, borders, wood, stone, cloth, tapestry, etc. Instead, it looks like a forgettable playstation game menu. Blizzard's art always sets them apart from other games, they should and could have it shinning for them front and center here, but for some reason forsake their cool style for this minimal style that really doesn't help the game, therefore, it only hurts the game.
...I don't like it. I REALLY don't like it.Honestly, the idea is pretty good. If blizz were to do something between this and the old UI it would have been amazing, but this... This looks like a generic F2P MMO more than WoW. And those sliders don't help the situation either. I liked it when you could preview the options you have on that race and chose from those, instead of having a bunch of sliders full of god-knows-what. Not to mention how much dead space there is now. At least they could've made it look less like flat design by putting elements of the old one, like put the banners on the side of the screen when you chose a race, make a grid window that is styled like the old customizer instead of sliders, or, at the very least, keep the blocky buttons. But this... This just looks cheap and uninspired...
