After all these betrayal and retcons from Blizzard......this one is just another kick to Horde's lifeless body.
Something I noticed: Calia's shoulderpads have the Lordaeron seal on one shoulder, but an empty circle on the other one.My guess is the Horde emblem will fill the other one in an upcoming texture change.
As he is an alpha, it is possible that they end up changing places to make him look more neutral, in his safe replacement they will put Lilian Voss.As for Valeera, well, she was only loyal to Varian, after her death I guess she doesn't need to be loyal to anyone anymore, that's why she's neutral on both factions. Besides, she's still a blood elf, so she won't be looking to do anything against her people either.
So, I think the disconnect here is aiming at the Horde being "evil" while so many expansions we have faced "evil" leaders, we have had multiple accounts of rebellion within to make the Horde not Evil....The end of BfA and Lor'themar's notion is that what happened in the past is over, Baine is our President so to say why the other races govern themselves. The Horde finally has peace...now that doesn't mean everyone is good.....The Alliance players angst orcs or the Horde is just as "bad" with the Horde against the Alliance. Blizzard wrote themselves in a corner when they made two factions but now we are seeing in the narrative where they are changing that racial issues and disdain are problematic for bigger governing bodies. I.E. Tyrande's desire to burn down the Horde and Jaina's moment where she wanted Varian to kill them all post-Garrosh. That being said, Anduin and Baine bring a positive perspective to their respective factions...Calia being the leader of the Undead (not the Forsaken) isn't a bad thing for both sides. It brings a general sense of unity, hence why I believe there will be Lightbound Undead to act as a neutral but selective faction for the sides. The "evil" side of the Undead were mostly working for Sylvanas and her schemes, now that she is gone...they can either follow her by heart...or fall in line. Just because you are Undead doesn't mean you have be evil, which that thought process is the reason the Forsaken branded themselves as such and drove them to the Horde...since no one wanted to accept their existence. Based on the Novel Before the Storm and the recent quests, Calia would bring a different light to the Undead, she may even rebrand the Undead to remove the negativity of "Forsaken" as she would push to get her fellow Lordaeron folks to be accepted again by their families, like she did in Arathi, a pivotal moment. Additionally, Lillian states "Lilian Voss:No. I'll speak on my people's behalf, but I won't rule them. There is another I believe will prove better suited to that task... when the time is right."That sets up my theory that I placed regarding the "reveal" event...Calia could assume leadership and use Derek and Lillian to be her emissaries for their respective sides, this would 1) make her not a true leader in the Horde Council but have Lilian be that and 2) Keeps Calia neutral to both sides.Calia will likely be in charge of the Lightbound Undead, those seeking to cleanse themselves or be born again through the light. Lightbound Undead is not a farfetched idea and could lead to great possibilities of a bigger Undead race customization such Night Elf / Human Undead and Blood Elf / Human Undead models with the addition of Undead Paladins for both sides. Because think of it...the Night Elves that died in Darkshore and were resurrected where do they go? Are they still following Sylvanas and since Tyrande is extremely anti-Undead, I doubt she accepts them...
Oh god please no....
Having a holy roller like Calia be the new Forsaken leader is sweet poetic justice. They went from having two leaders who encouraged the Forsaken to be evil mass murders, to a "Lightforged" leader who wants the Forsaken to be friendly and altruistic.Bonus points if Calia is involved with killing Sylvanas. A (good) Menethil, verses an (evil) Windrunner. The irony is *chef's kiss*.
I would like her to be the new Forsaken leader. She will have to prove herself, show that she will priorize her people if worgen start slicing her people. She can also be used to distance Baine from the position of peace-lover many perceive him to be by having him especially show distrust to Calia just for being former alliance.Having a bland and not competent character is a great base to show us her growth in the game.
Forsaken paladins inc... bet.
I expect Calia to take on a neutral role and advisory position, similar to Valeera or, to point to another undead priest, Faol. I cannot image her to really join the horde - which would essentially happen if she were to lead the Forsaken.Lillian Voss should lead the Forsaken, even if she doesn't want that role. Especially because she doesn't want that role.
More garbage from the WoW story/lore group.
I hope not. The Horde has enough Alliance bootlickers in its ranks and had way too many of their interesting characters chucked aside for no reason. Cairne gets the axe unceremoniously, Vol'jin gets taken out like a chump, and Sylvanas gets hit with the Villain Bat and *!@#s off.The Forsaken were one of the few Horde races that had something going for them other than HONOR HONOR HONOR HONOR HONOR! They might have had no moral scruples, but it was interesting to have a Neutral Evil faction. It's like we're losing the variety the Horde races had in terms of design and philosophy and just making them all the same.Bringing in a Bright Lady to "move the Forsaken away from hatred and rage with the grace of the LORD" is just so... BORING. This harkens back to that "Though shunned by the living, you nevertheless strive to protect them" bit from the new intro. It's BORING!We go from a complicated character who suffered horrendous violations that border on "Does this remind you of anything?" and who has to deal with not only the effects of that, but also the universal shunning she recieved from others, to a born-again christian with no depth to her. How is that an improvement? Did Blizzard really rip apart one of their most interesting characters just to put a paper cutout in her place?Hey Blizz? Protip: The reason you have so many Sylvanas stans to deal with is because WE DON'T LIKE THIS CRAP! I know Taliesen will cheer about Calia and possibly Lightforged Forsaken, but Taliesen would cheer for a dog turd if it had a Blizzard logo on it.
