I really wish this "I should be able to do everything" sentiment weren't so prevalent. Regardless of how "single player-y" WoW has become, it's still an MMO*RPG* and choices should matter. You had to choose between Scryer and Aldor back in BC and nobody lost their life because of it. Players should put more pressure on devs to balance the choices rather than simply allowing everyone to do everything. Otherwise why not just give everything to every player baseline?
Two weeks sounds way too much. If you want to disincentivize swapping based on the content you plan to do it can be much shorter. Nobody wants a 2 week grind because they decided to check out another covenant and decided they didn't like it as much. Maybe they could just let you change without grind but it wouldn't take effect until next reset, so you can't swap during the week to have different abilities for different raid days. I would be OK with that.
Pesonally I like the direction they seem to be going with this. Obviously there are still a lot of details to work out but I like the idea of being able to swap relatively easily but having it be more rewarding overall to stick with one. This creates a more natural reason/incentive to stay, rather than placing barriers on switching. Again there's still a lot to be worked out but based on this I think they have the right idea
This pic of Paul that you use.... so hot, very good choice .
The more we know about Covenants, the worse this system looks...Forced choice (you obviously chose what gives you most power for your main activity), and that gonna suck for those who participate in multiple different activities)...Conduits destroyed on swap (more pointless grind for what exactly?), make them like talents/essences...Being stuck with single covenant for entire expansion (because swapping is restricted in unknown way)...Being unable to choose Covenant that suits best for current activity you are doing...
The Ven'tyhr teleport is the same as the void elf teleport, isn't it? How come they're not all playin velfs?Personally, I feel like they're making mountains out of molehills.
Everyone needs to calm the hell down. We haven't even seen everything working yet, I mean you choose your Covenant then the soul binds are the tuning knobs that let you set your character if your doing M+ today and then can change for raid tomorrow. Until we see how all these things work in unison there is nothing to !@#$% about. There is still a ton of time before release so we can give them the feedback they need to make things right before launch.
So... like Scyers and Aldor? What's the bets there'll be a Feat of Strength of doing all 4 Covenants with the one character?
same
I'm fine with swapping covenants being hard. I'm not fine with player power being tied to covenants. It's just not necessary.
