looking forward to putting my knowledge of the world of warcraft to use and help somone understand it
Earlier today there was a new account that tried to start some political talk in the channel. A few of us Guides told them to take it to trade chat and we carried on our conversations around the nonsense. No one took the bait so that person eventually stopped. I'm hoping they'll give the Guides the ability to vote people for things like temporary mutes when they try to abuse this system like that... but so far I'm enjoying being able to answer questions the new players have had.
is it intended that you have to join this program with every charackter? I thought you join it with your account to help ppl.
This system sounds cool, but is totally useless. We are 4 ppl in newcomer chat, from 4 different languages Oo wtf is this.
I accidentally left newcomer chat somehow. How do I rejoin it?
Whelp, advertising boosts scum have taken over the Newcomer chat...
Do you really have to complete 3000 quests (on a single character) to be a guide? If so, that's pretty dumb.Means you could a top rated PVPer + mythic raider w/ N'zoth kills on 2 toons + keystone master + decade+ veteran player ... but because you didn't want to grind 3000 quests (most boring aspect of game imo) on a single toon (again, boring), you still can't be a guide.Sure hope that's not how it works. Can't wait to find out.

Glad you ^&*!ed off to wow then
How long are newcomers in newcomer chat? I've read different things - 30 hours played, max level reached, etc
Now new players have a great place to go to ask questions, get help and not have to worry about getting trolled. Long term suggestions:Add an audible alarm similar to what was done with whispers. Should be implemented into classic as well. Some form of translator or language seperation.
They need more requirements to become Guides or at least make them correctly answer FAQ. I've been playing on an alt account the last 2 days because I was bored with Shadowlands. So much wrong advice has been given.
As of 16 Jan 2021 I was checking this out and my main was given "Level 60" and "3000 Quests" as the only listed requirements at the SW guide. I do have the Terrific Trio achievement, but none of the other listed items it states as needed (they don't interest me tbh). Maybe it's the level, quests and 1 other (making that the two options needed). Worth to know if this has been altered or updated since this article was written.
Could you update the requirements for guides: you are still showing Level 50 whereas it is now Level 70.
I am a Guide and give my 20 years of experience to new players. Thinking back, if we had this program in Vanilla or even BC; things would have been so much easier in the learning curve. Of course, back then, we also had a much different quality of player base. Nonetheless; Teaching, Guiding and helping other people has always been Rewarding unto itself. I believe many New players are thankful for this program and the Guide's that make the game much more fun and insightful to play. Thank you to the Development team, the Staff of Blizzard as well as the Game Masters for making this possible.
