Drums with 100% uptime possible = "mandatory" profession & replacing tactical choices and gameplay with a grind. (it's no longer a raid cd with meaningful choices, "use it on pull?" "use it for a burn phase?", decide on encounter by encounter basis?)Any change that makes drums a meaningful choice because you cannot have a 100% uptime actually increases gameplay value and player agency, not the other way around. A welcome side-effect of that is that you will no longer have pressure to stack LW across the raid while still have it as a valid and useful perk.It is also a small countermeasure to, game knowledge, modern systems and 2.4.3 client indirectly "nerfing" content, any change that makes BC more BC is welcome.
I am very happy for this change!Having every raider go leatherworking is just not good RPG design. I can see the case for Engineering, as every class can justify using it. But, how is my warlock or mage going to get anything out of leatherworking other than a buff in raids?Great news!
So much for #NoChanges. When they said "you think you do, but you don't", this is exactly what they were talking about.
The only person tripping is the one that can't see how locking 90% of people into a single profession is pants on head stupid game design that probably should be changed. Is it as bad as Classic's bull&*!@? No. So? This isn't a contest. People are sick and tired of that bull&*!@ and don't want a similar thing happening in TBC due to people stubbornly resisting any small changes that would improve the game. Drums are bad for the game. You are being wilfully ignorant if you really think otherwise. The only reason I can think of that you see the complaining about a change to be justified, is if you are already a Leatherworker and aren't having your choice of your preferred profession taken away from you, and you would prefer to gain the perceived advantage you think you would be getting.
Okay so we went from minor QoL changes to outright changing metas. Let's not abuse the leniency the player base is providing, please.
I'm sure a large portion of the playerbase would've been totally okay with a straight rip of the original game instead of what we got. Tens of thousands of people have been playing on pure-vanilla realms for over a decade.
How about instead of making unnecessary changes that completely defeat the essence of revisiting the old experiences you change leatherworking drums in retail so people don't feel obligated to have hero/lust class in every run since you nerfed them so hard?
